Recent claims have taken social media by storm, alleging that Senegalese women are being denied the right to give birth in Lebanese hospitals and that Senegal has retaliated by imposing similar restrictions on Lebanese women within its borders. These explosive assertions have ignited debates about racial and national identity, healthcare equity, and inter-community relations between the two nations.
Lebanon itself has been notorious for being a very racist nation against Africans; this racism is even practiced amongst the Lebanese all over West Africa, with them owning infrastructures within and around Africa where the African nationals of those countries are not welcome.
This controversy first surfaced on platforms like Nairaland, where users shared posts alleging that Lebanese healthcare facilities were discriminating against African women, particularly Senegalese nationals.
It is claimed that Senegalese women are denied access to childbirth services due to biases that deem them “inferior.”In response, Senegal has introduced a policy barring Lebanese women from giving birth in Senegal as a retaliatory measure.
This is a good move on the part of Senegal, as for almost a century the mistreatment and disrespect of the Africans by the Lebanese in particular have gone on without response.
Due to this lack of response on the part of Africans against this mistreatment all over the world, it has only encouraged everyone else to think that this is something that can go on without any consequences.
Africans must develop a very harsh response against the racist treatment of our people all over the world, and as long as the rest of the world believes this can go on without consequences, it will only get worse over time.
With West Africans being enslaved in Lybia, murdered and raped in the Middle East, and treated like cattle by Arabs and Asians, it is time that the Africans sit up and understand that we have no friends. The sad reality of this is that Africans treat the people of these racist nations with so much respect and friendship in Africa.
The solution is for us to stop trying to run to people’s lands and develop ours. We have allowed our home to be a mess, which is why everyone thinks we deserve the absolute minimum every single time.
